China’s CSI 300 Real Estate Index surged by up to 5.8%, while the overall CSI 300 benchmark decreased by 0.63%, closing at 3,831.59. The Hang Seng Mainland Properties Index rose approximately 3.8%, although the Hang Seng index remained unchanged in its final trading hour. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.83% to close at 39,180.3, and the broader Topix index dropped 1.2%, finishing at 2,690.66. Meanwhile, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 declined by 0.41% to 8,284.7. US U.S. stocks fell sharply overnight as corporate earnings season unfolded. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 324.80 points, or 0.75%, closing at 42,740.42 after reaching a new intraday high. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.76% to finish at 5,815.26, while the Nasdaq Composite declined by 1.01% to close at 18,315.59. Commodity Gold moved closer to record highs on Wednesday, supported by a decline in U.S. bond yields and anticipated rate cuts from major central banks, along with safe-haven demand amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. Spot gold rose about 0.6% to $2,676.03 per ounce, nearing its record high of $2,685.42 reached on September 26. U.S. gold futures increased by 0.5% to $2,692.60. Meanwhile, U.S. crude futures dipped on Wednesday, closing below $71 per barrel after a significant drop in the previous session, driven by reports that Israel would refrain from attacking Iran’s oil facilities. The U.S. benchmark fell over 4% on Tuesday after Israel indicated to the U.S. that it would restrict its retaliatory strikes to military targets in Iran.
