INTRODUCTION
The Lymphatic system is the drainage system that remove excess fluid from the body tissues and returns them into the bloodstream.
It removes waste materials, fight infections, absorbs fat soluble vitamins and transport fluid through out the body hence improve our body's immune system.
THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
The Lymphatic system is the drainage system consist of the lymphatic capillaries, the starting point of the lymphatic system.
These lymphatic capillaries joins together and form the lymphatic vessels which carry lymph fluid to the circulatory system.
The lymphatic vessels consist of the valves just like the blood vessels to prevent back flow of lymph fluid.
It also pass through the Skeletal muscle which contract and pushes the lymph forward.
Along the lymphatic vessels there exist the lymph nodes that filters the lymph fluid and eliminate pathogens.
Then later the lymph fluid is taken back to the circulatory system.
BODY PARTS INVOLVED IN THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
TONSILS:
These helps to trap bacterias and viruses that enter through the mouth. Therefore it is also part of the lymphatic system.
THE LYMPH NODES:
This is contains monocyte and lymphocytes which digest pathogens,
it filters lymph fluid and eliminate fight infections.
THYMUS:
This is the gland also involve in the body's immune system.
It produce the T-cells that identify the type of bacteria present in the lymph, hence important to our immunity.
THE SPLEEN:
This is responsible for the production of white blood cells that fights infections,
it also filters blood and remove old red blood cells.
THE LYMPHATIC VESSELS
This transports lymph fluid, a clear colourless fluid that contains white blood cells and other immune cells, and remove waste materials.
BONE MARROW
This produces red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets that fight infections, hence help in the immune system.
FUNCTIONS OF THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
The lymphatic system for the immunity of the body. It helps to:
1. Remove excess water or balance fluid level.
2. Remove waste materials like germs or bacterias.
3. Flights infections
4. Transports fluids throughout the body.
5. Also absorbs fat soluble vitamins from the digestive system.
