Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Technology, and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.72%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 1.17%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation, which rose 3.07% or 1.49 points to trade at 49.84 at the close.
Meanwhile, Apple Inc added 2.86% or 3.41 points to end at 122.46 and The Travelers Companies Inc was up 2.81% or 3.64 points to 133.29 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Salesforce.com Inc, which fell 1.53% or 3.77 points to trade at 242.03 at the close. 3M Company declined 1.49% or 2.57 points to end at 170.16 and McDonald’s Corporation was down 0.85% or 1.84 points to 215.60.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Kohls Corporation which rose 13.91% to 36.68, Arconic Corporation which was up 8.91% to settle at 29.96 and Nordstrom Inc which gained 6.25% to close at 27.54.
